INTENT

The Bursary Program provides a grant to qualified applicants to assist in paying for their studies at a post secondary institute (hereafter called an institute.)
Winners will be required to provide their SIN to allow for the issuance of a T4 slip for CRA purposes.

ELIGIBILITY

The following persons are eligible for and may apply for the bursary:

  • a child, grandchild, or partner of a member of the Regimental Family (serving, former-serving or deceased); and
  • a cadet enrolled in an affiliated cadet corp.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should be:

  • preparing to attend or already attending an institute; 
  • able to prove a relationship with a member of the Regimental Family or as a membership of an affiliated cadet corps; and
  • capable of providing all the required supporting documentation.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Submission

The applicant must:

  • use the official application form; 
  • submit all the necessary supporting documentation to the Association through RHQ by mail; and
  • identify the envelope as a bursary application.

Supporting Documentation

Documentation required to accompany the application includes:

  • a letter from the applicant providing the reason for applying and their educational intentions;
  • for those in their last year of high school, an official transcript of secondary school grades;
  • for those applicants who are continuing their studies in programs beyond the first year of post-secondary studies an official transcript of their last year’s (latest) grades is required;
  • a letter of acceptance for enrolment at an institute or proof of continuing enrollment if pursuing a further year’s study, 
  • a letter from a unit commanding officer for cadets or partner;
  • a letter of reference from a principal, career counsellor, teacher or another suitable individual; and
  • Applicants should include information on any of their community service and volunteer activities along with a letter from the applicable organization outlining the extent of their community or volunteer activities

NOTE: Applicants are encouraged to provide sufficient detail to demonstrate their qualifications for a bursary.
Incomplete applications or ones received after the end of the day of 15 August will not be considered.

APPLICANT EVALUATION

During the assessment process, the Committee will give preference to applicants:

  • entering their initial year in an institute; and
  • whose sponsor is a lower rank.
